A beautiful new year, freshly fallen snow, cool evenings and a bunch of wicked memories from the year behind us.  2015 was a dream, with highlights like shooting my first gorgeous engagement session, awesome job changes, and the most important, marrying my best friend.  I loved last year, it has been one of the best yet.

Last year was the time I decided I needed to get the hell up and out, and get on those goals, because no one was going to do it for me, but me.  I handed in my resignation at my wonderful job in finance, taking a huge leap to pursue photography as a career.   I have learned so much in the last year.  About myself; the person I am, and who I strive to be, and a whole lot about running a business.   It’s a tad of a tough gig, but oh so worth it, and I can’t even explain how fulfilling it truly is.  In order to do so, I took a job closer to home, with more flexible hours, so I could focus on photos when I needed to.   Looking back, and being fully honest with myself, I didn’t do enough shooting, and enough putting myself out there in the time I had this past year.    What does that mean today?  It only teaches me to come out much stronger, and a little more knowledgable this year, woo!  It taught me what I did accomplish, which was a ton of reading, and brainstorming, lots of business preparation, and one hell of a lot of soul searching.  I really took a look at how I wanted to my work to represent me as a photographer, and what I wanted to promote for myself as a person.  I really checked into how I wanted to run my business.  I want to get to know my couples, know and value their love story, and really listen to their personalities.  This will help me document who they are together, and create amazing images that represent just that.   I LOVE creating raw, intimate, and breathtaking moments.  I want to make some of the most fun moments you’ve had come to life, and a crazy exciting day you can look back on and say, “THAT was our photography session!?”  Hell yes it was!   I want to explore.  I want to be around adventurous, exciting, bright, and uplifting people.  People who don’t mind being out in the falling snow for an unreal couples session, or those who want to hike to the top of a mountain for a stunning, wind-swept photo documentary of their lives, in that moment, together.  I would love to be fulfilled, and most of all, I want to ensure the amazing couples I photograph are the most happy.  I am in this for you.  For my wonderful, kick-ass clients, and couldn’t dream of it any other way.

I didn’t know much of this at this time last year, only that I wanted to create great things for awesome people. But I am insanely excited for what this year has to offer, and I can’t wait to have the most fun doing it all.   I also can’t wait to share some of my most favourite images from last year with you, below. (And was really hard to select just a few, there were so many favourites!)

There is so much to come.  So many announcements, collabs, amazing giveaways, and a crazy amount of fun, so stay tuned.   I will end with a huge HAPPY NEW YEAR!   Go out and do every single thing you want to this year!

With so much love, xo Lea
